¡BIENVENID@S!
About Señora Quinn
¡Hola! My name is Christy Quinn and I'm a 4th & 5th grade Spanish immersion teacher in Duluth, MN. I grew up in Montevideo, a small town in Minnesota. In 2013, I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and have been teaching for the past 10 years. Throughout this time, I've taught in Phoenix, AZ; Seoul, South Korea; Buenos Aires, Argentina and currently teach in Duluth, MN. I have always worked with language learners (English and Spanish) and feel that my position in each city helped me develop into the teacher that I am today. I believe that all quality educators are also lifelong learners which is why I graduated with a Masters of Education in World Language Instruction in 2021.

When I’m not in the classroom or preparing lessons, I love to be active and outside. I have ran a couple marathons and rode in a 450 mile bike ride across Iowa in 2018. I love traveling and have traveled to 13 countries and most states. The first picture is at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that all students deserve a socially welcoming and academically challenging classroom. My goal as a 4th & 5th grade Spanish immersion teacher is for students to use the language as a tool to ignite curiosity in content-specific subjects. I work hard to foster a community that allows students to develop a love for the language and an interest in intercultural collaboration.

I work hard to build strong connections with my students and genuinely love them for the children that they are. Each child is unique and for that reason, I work hard to differentiate my lessons. In my classroom, you will find students with hands-on activities and playing games that build knowledge in the content subject.

Learning a language in elementary school is more than learning the syntax. My students learn about various cultures and diverse locations through international games and songs. I strive to create an atmosphere that allows students to be open-minded, critical thinkers.
"No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship."
